Colorado Fall Colors

On my latest trip to  the Rockies the Aspens were changing in the mountains and it was beautiful. Here are a few samples of the trees.

Just about everywhere you go the color was there.

At an old mine.

This is a relative remote area only a few people ever see and especially in the Fall. I feel very lucky.

It happens in stages over a three week period.

 A beautiful stream.

Along the road between Creede and Lake City, Colorado.

There were not many people or cars around.

Henson Creek in Lake City.

How about living there?

Great place to rest.

The headwaters of the Rio Grand River. Yes, the one that flows along the Texas. Mexico border. It starts in Colorado.

 Lake San Cristobal.

The near end of the lake. See the houses. Nice summer place.

Someday you will have to go in September.

Grand Canyon

Another favorite place for me is the Grand Canyon. I have been there many times and even been there in the winter with snow on the rim of the canyon. I have flown down in the canyon and walked down into the canyon, not all the way but I got a taste of it. I have been to the North Rim and the South Rim of the canyon. Here are a few pictures.

You can ride a mule down to the bottom and there is a motel ran by the Native Americans where you can stay. The wall of the canyon is pretty straight up and down as you can see.

 Time for a break.

Years ago there was a steam locomotive that took people out to the canyon. As you can see from the picture below it has been a while since it ran.

I was lucky enought to be there the day they reopened the railroad in 1985. This tree was cut down for the event.

People dress as they did back in the 1860's

The governor of Arizona was on had to give a speech.

The steam train was all reconditioned and looked great. Fun day!

The Forest Rangers were there too.

Put it on your list of places to go.

The Loneliest Road in America

I always wanted to travel Highway 50 after I heard the name. Take a look at a map and see where it is. If you really want to get a surprise follow it across the country (east) and see what house it passes in front of. That person has a lonely job. It will be obvious if you follow 50 as far as it goes.

What did I tell you. Loneliest Road in America!

Nevada the Silver State.

This stretch of road is 40 miles to the curve in the road, I checked it.
Not a lot of traffic.

Interesting views of weather.

Wide open spaces.

Dry as you can imagine.

Not much growing in some places.

Looks like a tree but more like a cactus.

Nice rest area.

No one there!
But me!

The landscape did change some.

Take a trip along the Loneliest Road sometime, it was beautiful and lonely.

Loved it!

Santa Fe, New Mexico

There are a lot of great towns and one of my favorite towns is in Mew Mexico. The architecture is outstanding and the art is fantastic.

The Southwest adobe style is so warm and inviting.

Sante Fe is not like any other city in the US.

The weather is a very mild in the winter and there are lots of outdoor restaurants.

This is my favorite restaurant, Pasquales.
The old Spanish Mission built by the Spanish between 1610 - 1626.

Native Americans sell there creations on the plaza.

The Plaza.

Sales of fine jewelry
I bought the pot on the right.

Indian headdress carved in wood.
Take a trip to Sante Fe someday.
