Short trip to Kansas and Colorado

I took a trip to see a couple state parks and found myself almost alone at all of them.
I visited Pawnee Rock, Ft. Larned National Historic Site, The Santa Fe Trail Center, Rush County Historic Museum, and The Kansas Barbed Wire Museum.

This outcropping of rock is along the Santa Fe Trail and many of the travelers carved their initials in the soft stone.  There is a monument to those travelers.

I was there all alone and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

A soldier was buried along the trail and was only 20 years old.

The small town of Pawnee Rock in the distance. Great visit!

 Fort Larned

Lower rank officers.

Officer's quarters.

Doctors office.

Enlisted men's quarters.

Main entrance.

Stuffed!

Because there were few trees in Kansas and plenty of this soft stone, fence posts were made out of stone.

Sod house.

Never end to dusting.

Train Depot.

School house.

All grades in one room.

Small cabin.

Barbed Wire.

Fence posts.

I had a great trip and saw a lot of history. Take a trip!
